Michelle makes the front page, hollering

Michelle has never actually been in the paper, thanks to years of working at a paper.

How it happened
She and her friend, Janel, who is also in the photo, had just left a Saturday morning Spinning class in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Across the street they noticed at the Broward County Courthouse that protests over the ballot count were getting a little out of hand.

Feeling the need to aid the overshadowed, but nonetheless correct and valid side of the protest, Michelle and Janel chose to stay and holler themselves hoarse over the next 5 hours. The next day Janel got a phone call from her brother in San Francisco who informed Janel and Michelle of their 30 seconds of fame.

Is the photo online?
If you enter "Tevis" in the Chronicle's search, it still returns the online story even though the photo isn't available. Apparently, she's in the database (and in an FBI file somewhere, no doubt). The story can be found here.

Jerks abound
It was all she could do to keep from doing serious bodily damage to these guys. A major clue that someone in South Florida may be a jerk is if they are New York Jets fans.
